Secrets of Christmas introduction, including RTP and variance
This is a 3×5 slot with 25 paylines, a failsafe NetEnt recipe that most players are familiar with, and this also means the game doesn’t pay too often or too well during the base game, but makes up for it during the bonus feature.
The game has a medium variance, with all the big wins coming during the free spins game.
The theoretical payout (Return To Player) is 96.72%, which is decent, slightly better than the base payout NetEnt usually uses in their slots.
This game is, in fact, a slight adaptation of NetEnt’s 2013 title Secret of the Stones, and the two are almost identical.
Why RTP is important when playing slots
Playing with a higher Return to Player increases your chances of winning and playing time.
How to play Secrets of Christmas
Stunning graphics are at the heart of this online slot game, and everyone will feel all warm and fuzzy while playing Secrets of Christmas. The five premium symbols depict the Christmas theme and five card symbols.
Santa Claus is the Wild symbol, and there’s also a Scatter which can appear on all five reels for a maximum of five Scatters.
The paytable is very good, though with ten symbols the big wins will be coming less frequently. The game doesn’t pay too well or too often during the base game, but the rewarding paytable will come to life during the free spins feature and the extra Wilds or even a full Wild Reel that go with it.
Bonus Features
You need to land at least three Scatters anywhere on your reels to trigger the free spins feature with 10 free spins.
Before it begins, you get to pick three to five (the same number as the number of bonus scatters you landed) Christmas presents, which will be the bonus boosters which will be in effect during your 10 free spins.
These can be multipliers, extra Wilds, extra free spins, or the ultimate gift – an entire Wild Reel, which will nearly guarantee substantial payouts. The free spins game in Secrets of Christmas is gratifying and is well worth the wait, especially if you happen to get that Wild Reel feature.
It’s entirely possible to win 200x or 300x your bet during the free spins feature in this game, and this is the best thing about this slot.
CasinoWizard’s verdict: 7.5 out of 10
One of the best Christmas titles, NetEnt’s Secrets of Christmas is an excellent choice for those winter mornings or evenings when there’s nothing to do, and NetEnt quality is guaranteed throughout.
The game has the right balance when it comes to the frequency of paying out and the chance of big wins.
This online slot can indeed bring you a big Christmas present!
