Rat Royale Slot Overview
Seeing lots of rats isn’t exactly appealing to most of us, but in Rat Royale you have no choice, at least if you want to walk away with some memorable wins, since the max win is 15,000x the bet.
However, it’s the Rat King Wild symbols that land on reel 3 that make the biggest difference in this slot, as they have various abilities.
You can also trigger three different Free Spin Bonus Games. For example, the 5-scatter edition lands a fully expanded Rat King Wild symbol on each spin.
Rat Royale is scheduled for release in the UK on October 22, 2026.

You get colourful candy slots like Sugar Rush and Sweet Bonanza, and then the opposite, like Rat Royale.
It’s a dark (as it should be) and almost majestic setting that we find in Rat Royale. The King Rat sits on his throne, with treasures scattered around him.
You can also see some smaller rats running around the game area while you are playing.

RTP, Volatility & Max Win
Rat Royale is a medium volatile slot with a max win of 15,000x the bet.
This game is released in four RTP versions: 92.00%, 94.53%, 95.50%, or 96.52%.
Why RTP is important when playing slots
Whether we like it or not, the Return to Player, or RTP, of a slot significantly impacts a lot of crucial elements that come with playing slots.
The RTP is another term for the average percentage that a slot pays back for each stake. So, when a slot has a 96% RTP, it will pay back, on average, 96p for each pound staked. As you can imagine, the higher the RTP, the better it is for you, the player, as this will result in:
More spins before your money runs out
More spins = more chances to win
Increased playing time for the player
More value for money for the player
A lower profit margin for the casino
History of RTP and online slots
In the “old days”, all online slots had a default RTP, meaning the Return to Player was the same for each slot, no matter which online casino you played it in. However, since around 2020, due to regulations, increased Gambling Taxes and rising costs, online casinos started pressuring slot providers to release slots with different RTP configurations.
In effect, the online casino now had a choice: it was now able to offer its players a lower-paying RTP version. You could be playing a specific slot with a 96% RTP at casino A, and play the same slot with a 94% RTP at casino B, without even knowing it. The slot may look and feel the same, but the maths model underneath, which is the heart and soul of a slot, may be different, with all the negative consequences that come with it.
An example in real numbers
To illustrate the difference between playing a high-RTP slot versus playing the same slot but with a lower RTP, we have done some calculations.
Let’s take, as an example, one of the most popular online slots ever made: Book of Dead by Play’n GO. It has five possible RTP configurations: 84.18%, 87.25%, 91.25%, 94.25%, and 96.21%. Of course, other slots have different payout percentages, so results will vary.
We have calculated for Book of Dead, per RTP configuration, how many spins it takes to run out of money, based on theoretical losses (house edge) per spin, a starting balance of £100 and a stake of £1 per spin.
Book of Dead RTP
Theoretical Playtime
House Edge
96.21%
2,612 spins
3.79%
94.25%
1,721 spins
5.75%
91.25%
1,131 spins
8,75%
87.25%
776 spins
12.75%
84.18%
625 spins
15.82%
As you can see in our calculations, there are huge differences in the number of spins when you compare the different RTP configurations. The difference between the 96.21% RTP and the 94.25% RTP version is over 900 spins!
Conclusion
Playing with a higher Return to Player increases your chances of winning and playing time. So, when you want to play an online slot, always try to find a casino that offers it at the highest payout setting.

Slot Features & Bonus Rounds
Ideally, you will land those Rat King Wild symbols often to benefit from their modifiers.
Regular Wilds
Regular Wilds can carry a random multiplier of x1 to x100 that applies to wins that pass through it.
Rat King Wilds
The Rat King Wild symbols can land on the third reel and carry multipliers from x2 to x500.
They also have different abilities.
Red Gem Rat King Wild: Expands to fill the whole reel if there is a winning combination. Any other rats holding red gems will add a +1 multiplier to the Rat King.
Purple Gem Rat King Wild: Multipliers from all regular wilds are added to this Rat King.
Green Gem Rat King Wild: Adds its multiplier to any regular wilds present.
Blue Gem Rat King Wild: Any rats holding a blue gem become a regular wild with a random multiplier.
Free Spins
Landing 3 or more scatters triggers 10 Free Spins.
3 Scatters: All wilds will carry at least a x2 multiplier.
4 Scatters: A Rat King Wild will land on each spin, and its multiplier doesn’t reset between spins.
5 Scatters: A fully expanded Rat King Wild is present on all spins, and its multiplier stays on it until the end.
Symbols & Payouts
3 Adventures of Alice features 9 pay symbols and a wild.
Low-paying symbols can pay up to 0.60x the bet for 5 matching A or K symbols on a payline.
High-paying symbols can pay up to 3x the bet for 5 matching rats holding a red gem on a payline.
CasinoWizard’s verdict: Rat Royale is more than worth a go (7 out of 10)
Rat Royale feels like a more ambitious Pragmatic Play gamethan what we are used to. It doesn’t have an endless range of features, but it still does some out-of-the-box thinking.
The overall atmosphere and visuals also create an interesting vibe. Rats! Why do we dislike them so much? They are carriers of diseases, right? So, using rats as a theme for an online slot is an interesting choice. Kudos to PP for that decision.
It’s otherwise a bit of a messy slot. This could be because the Rat King Wild symbols look like the regular Rat pay symbols, and because there are four of them, each with different abilities. You might not fully understand what is happening and why until you have familiarised yourself with each special modifier.
There are things that I like about Rat Royale, though, as it’s different and bold. It’s also interesting to see Pragmatic Play testing different Free Spin options depending on how many scatters you land. Just like Hacksaw Gaming has done for ages.
Rat Royale could have been even better if it were slightly more straightforward, but I suggest you try it, since it’s not your average Pragmatic slot.
Final verdict: 7 out of 10.
Rat Royale is officially released on October 22, 2026.
