Spins on online slots must have a minimum interval of 2.5 seconds between spins in the UK.

Game studio Stakelogic has received a hefty £122,835 fine after it used a manual stopwatch to verify times and failed to do so.

How did Stakelogic test their slots?

In this day and age, with AI tools and whatnot, we would assume that major companies test their games thoroughly before they are approved and offered to UK customers.

However, Stakelogic has apparently conducted their testing in an unusual way, as they used a compliance procedure in which Stakelogic employees used a manual stopwatch to verify that the affected games indeed had a 2.5-second interval between spins.

Turns out that this wasn’t a bulletproof method, as some Stakelogic games execute spins with intervals of just 1.97 seconds between rounds.

Other deviations ranged from 0.001 seconds to 0.675 seconds below the 2.5-second minimum.

This breach has led the United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) to impose a £122,835 fine on Stakelogic.

Who are Stakelogic?

Stakelogic is a UKGC-licensed game studio founded in 2015 with its headquarters in the Netherlands.

They create and provide UK customers and other markets with online slots, live casino and mini games.

Some of their popular online slots include Sunken City Riches, Throne of Flame, Candy Links Bonanza 3, and Penguin Payday.

Which games were affected?

It was Stakelogic itself that initially discovered the fault on its slot, Tiger Temple 88, as the interval between spins on this game was 1.97 seconds, and it reported it to the UKGC.

UKGC then asked Stakelogic to retest its entire portfolio of games and discovered during this investigation that another 15 games were in violation of the 2.5-second minimum rule.

Tiger Temple 88 was non-compliant between May 28 and May 30, 2025. The other 15 games ran too fast at different times between October 31, 2021, and October 30, 2025.

Have the outcomes and results been affected?

No, the faster-than-allowed spins have not affected any outcomes, as the games rely on Random Number Generator algorithms unaffected by this fault.

All outcomes have been completely random and fair, as the games have otherwise functioned exactly as designed and intended. The 2.5-second rule doesn’t change the game’s RTP or odds.

Why must spins have a 2.5-second interval in the UK?

The UKGC introduced the 2.5-second minimum spin interval rule in 2021 as part of a package of safer gambling measures.

The 2.5-second time interval rule was added to slow the pace of play, encourage more conscious decision-making, and reduce harm from continuous play and gambling.
