LeoVegas brings its own sportsbook Tiger to the UK

LeoVegas has launched its proprietary sportsbook, Tiger, in the UK. This is a move that is a lot more significant than just adding another betting product to its brands.

Tiger is now live across LeoVegas, BetUK and BetMGM in the UK, following earlier launches in markets including Denmark, Brazil and Sweden.

The big story is that LeoVegas now owns the technology behind its sportsbook rather than relying on an outside supplier. That gives the group much more freedom to change the product, add features and adapt it for different markets.

The UK is arguably the biggest test yet

UK is one of the world’s most competitive betting markets, with customers used to sophisticated products and plenty of choice. LeoVegas is therefore putting Tiger in front of a very demanding audience.

The sportsbook includes features such as enhanced odds boosts, partial cash-out and flexible combination bets. But the bigger advantage, according to LeoVegas, is being able to develop and improve the product itself rather than waiting for a third-party technology provider.

Why Tipico was so important

Tiger’s roots go back to MGM Resorts’ 2024 acquisition of Tipico’s US sportsbook and online casino technology.

The deal gave LeoVegas access not just to Tipico’s sportsbook platform, but also to experienced technology, management and trading teams. In other words, MGM didn’t have to start building a sportsbook from scratch.

That was a major shortcut.

The plan was to take technology that had already been developed for the highly competitive US betting market and adapt it for LeoVegas’ international brands and regulated markets.

Tiger is the result.

The rollout has taken time, with LeoVegas gradually moving into different markets rather than switching everything over at once. The UK launch shows that the technology is now reaching one of the group’s most important markets.

Where BetMGM fits in

There’s another reason Tiger matters: LeoVegas is becoming an increasingly important part of MGM’s international online gaming strategy.

MGM bought LeoVegas for around $607m in 2022, and since then the group has been used as MGM’s international online gaming arm.

That includes operating BetMGM outside the core North American joint venture markets. In the UK, for example, BetMGM is operated by LeoVegas alongside the LeoVegas and BetUK brands.

So, Tiger isn’t just powering a sportsbook for LeoVegas customers. It is also becoming part of the technology infrastructure behind MGM’s international BetMGM business.

That makes the UK launch particularly interesting. MGM gets the benefit of its BetMGM brand, while LeoVegas provides the technology and operational expertise behind it.

The bigger picture

LeoVegas has spent the past few years moving from being primarily known as an online casino operator towards owning more of the technology and content behind its business.

It bought game developer Push Gaming in 2023 and then acquired the Tipico technology in 2024.

Tiger might just be the most important piece of that strategy so far.

The UK launch will show whether all that investment can translate into a sportsbook capable of competing with the established players. If it can, LeoVegas will have something valuable: a sportsbook platform it controls and can continue developing across its international brands.

For customers, that may simply mean better features and a more flexible betting experience.

For MGM and LeoVegas, though, Tiger is about something much bigger: taking control of a crucial part of the online betting business.
