About Sizzling Hot Quattro
Sizzling Hot Quattro is a Novomatic video slot that comes from an earlier era. It was a dark time when you had to actually share a physical machine with other people.
None of the comforts of playing from your own home or getting a multitude of fun bonuses. No, you took what you were given, and you liked it. Despite their brutal simplicity, these older releases had their charm. Like, say, the promise of winning 10,000 coins for a five-of-a-kind win?
Introduction, including RTP and variance
The game is played on four 5×3 boards, each with 5 paylines, making up 20 total. You can choose to turn off five paylines at a time, which essentially deactivates one of the playing fields. Wins are awarded by connecting three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions from left to right on an active payline.
The theoretical payout (RTP) for Sizzling Hot Quattro is fixed at a decent 95.36%. This is below the current industry average for online slots, but it is fantastic when compared to land-based slot machines. The slot is a low volatility affair, with occasional flashes of medium variance appearing here and there. For the most part, you should expect lots of small, frequent wins. You may not win much, but you probably won’t lose a lot either.
Gameplay and Pay Table
The paytable is rather bland, housing only fruit symbols, lucky sevens, and golden stars. Out of them all, the rare lucky seven is the most valuable symbol, followed by watermelons and grapes. Scatters come after those two, and then the last spot is shared between four icons: plums, oranges, lemons, and cherries. It should also be noted that turning off paylines decreases the value of certain symbols. So if you want the best wins, you have to keep all 20 active at once.
Keep an eye out for the golden star! It acts as a Scatter, being able to pay from any position. However, it cannot be used to activate free spins or any other special feature mostly because there isn’t anything to trigger!
Bonus Features
Older games are notorious for throwing you in front of the reels and dusting off their hands. They’re spinning, jobs are done, time for the next one. The explosion of various special features that were brought in thanks to online gambling was a godsend. Unfortunately, such innovations failed to reach Sizzling Hot Quattro.
The only variance to your routine will be the option to gamble on a certain win. You are taken to a separate screen and told to guess between red or black cards. If you guess the colour right, your win is doubled. But if you guess wrong, you lose everything.
CasinoWizard’s verdict: 2 out of 5 stars
At the time, we can imagine Novomatic’s release must have been spectacular. Four boards, each one with a solid chance to get me great wins? Heck, who even needs free spins in that case! The truth of the matter is quite different, however. Each reel only has five paytables to work with, and you cannot have wins stretching from one to another.
At the very least, the slot pays quite frequently, keeping you from getting bored too quickly. Still, players looking for the thrill of chasing a big jackpot might want to skip this one.
Visually, Sizzling Hot Quattro is no longer the hot stuff it used to be. Age has taken its toll on this game. Fruit symbols used to be all the rage – until they were swapped out for playing card royals. There are no fun animations or screen transitions that will woo you. The slot is as basic as they come when it comes to graphics.
At the very least, it offers a decent RTP. The low-medium variance is fun for a while, but even it loses its charm after playing for a while. Having four boards, in the end, is just a gimmick. And once the novelty wears off, you are left with a mediocre game with little going for it.
