About Dwarf Mine
Dwarf Mine is a video slot from Yggdrasil that introduces players to the second most fun thing a dwarf can do. We would much rather do the first, but our liver’s still recovering from the last time we tried it! So, we leave the booze to the dwarves and make our way into the mines!
Here, our bearded comrades work elaborate machines, collecting valuable crystals and ores. They have additional tools to help them along the way, too! Expanding reels, free spins, and collectible symbols all make an appearance to spice things up.
Dwarf Mine introduction, including RTP and variance
The game is played on a 5×4 board with 1024 ways to win. It is possible to expand to a 5×7 playing field, with 16,807 ways to win! In both cases, pays are awarded for collecting three identical symbols in adjacent positions from left to right. More than one icon per reel adds a multiplier to the win!
Dwarf Mine’s theoretical payout (RTP) is 96.80%, which is above the current industry average. It has medium volatility, with a few hints of high variance occasionally peeking through. You can land some impressive jackpots if you try hard! For the most part, you should expect a balanced mix of small and big wins as you chip away at this slot!
Gameplay and Pay Table
Icons are split into three categories by the game. Low, high and super high-paying symbols! Despite that, there is no massive difference in value between low and high-paying icons. The situation does change when you reach super high-paying symbols, but they are much rarer. Furthermore, super high-paying icons can grant pays with only two symbols, instead of three.
Occasionally, you will see the raw forms of the super high-paying icons. They are collectibles and fill up one of the carts off to the side. You will also come across a drill symbol, which is used to increase reel size and to trigger free spins.
Dwarf Mine bonus features
Each time a reel has more than one icon that is part of a win, it multiplier the win. Each reel will have a multiplier between 1x to 3x, and these multipliers multiply with each other. Theoretically, you could reach the maximum multiplier of 243x if you fill the reels with only one symbol!
One drill bonus icon by its lonesome will dig upwards, increasing the reel height by one row. Reels can be expanded up to three rows.
Landing three drills reward players with 10 free spins. During extra turns, the reels are automatically expanded to their maximum 5×7 size.
Collectible symbols only appear on expanded reels during normal gameplay. Filling a cart with five of each kind wins Collection free spins. Super High Symbols only make an appearance during this bonus feature.
CasinoWizard’s verdict: 4 out of 5 stars
We have to admit; we had a blast with all the various bonuses! They were the primary reason we were interested in the game, and Yggdrasil knocked them out of the park. The multiplier feature is the most unassuming one, at first glance. But it can easily net you the strongest prize in Dwarf Mine. Not that either of the free spins are slacking off, in any respect!
Visually, we like some things, but not everything. There’s no denying that it feels like you’re operating some kind of heavy machinery. The user interface was brilliantly designed to evoke that feeling. It is further aided by the dwarf who tugs a lever each time you press the spin button. Our main gripe was the lack of quality animations and boring symbol design.
Still, graphics only serve to attract gamblers. What will make them stay is the impressive RTP and the fun, medium variance gameplay. The luckiest few may even walk away with the top prize, worth 3,904.2x your total stake.
