One word of advice: Ideally, you bring an open mind when trying this game, as it’s not your ordinary video slot. Bjorn uses an adventure/fantasy theme that might appeal more to a niche audience rather than becoming a global hit.

Bjorn functions like a traditional Cluster Pays slot but with the addition that the hero placed in the middle can move around and fight enemies.

Bjorn is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026, and it offers a max win of 5,000x the bet.

Theme & Visuals

The Hero becomes active after there are no more winning clusters when any Draugr symbols are present. The hero hunts and defeats these Draugr symbols, destroying symbols it passes over.

Defeated Draugr symbols may drop Loot and award multipliers.

Abilities

Abilities ranging from Increased Loot chances to extra multipliers per defeated Draugr symbol can trigger before any spin.

You might also see Draugr symbols placed on the grid, or the hero may leave mystery symbols in its path that can even become wilds.

Troll Feature

A Troll symbol might appear before the spin. The Troll destroys symbols in a 3×3 area when it moves and counts as 9 Draugr. It may also award Loot and multipliers when defeated.

Global Multiplier

The global multiplier applies to all Cluster Wins and Loot wins but resets at the start of each spin.

Free Spins

The free spins can randomly trigger when there is a Bonus symbol present on the grid.

You start with 5 free spins when triggered and are awarded 1-3 random abilities or upgrades.

Every 20 defeated Draugr awards +2 extra free spins and 1-3 random abilities or upgrades.

There are things to like in this slot, but you might need some time to warm up to it and to fully understand it. Not because it’s a complicated game, but because it functions a bit differently when compared to traditional online slots.

It’s refreshing to see game studios having the courage to try new things, but they don’t always lead to massive successes. Bjorn will surely find its audience as Reapers did, but Bjorn lacks the high-quality visuals, as seen, for example, in Deck of Divinity, which was a brilliant and unusual online slot.

Bjorn reminds me more of the games you see in ads between YouTube clips, where simpler mobile games are advertised. Still, going after this niche could be a brilliant move for Thunderkick. It will be very interesting to follow once the game is released.

Bjorn is not my favourite online slot in 2026, far from it, but the game deserves some praise as it’s innovative, different, and Thunderkick is experimenting with new ideas. It does lack some of that important suspense and build-up to make it more exciting.

If experimental games don’t appeal to you, then it’s always easy to go back to your favourite slot again, but players who enjoy trying new types of games might get a kick out of this one.
