Some slots have more potential than others to become super hits, and then there are games such as Huff N’ Puff CollectR that have all the right attributes to become popular. This game could even become the most popular online slot in 2026.

We had the pleasure of discussing the thought process of creating a game of this magnitude with Daniel Johansson, Lead Product Owner at ELK Studios.

CasinoWizard: Did you feel any extra pressure to create a slot which is based on two of the most iconic and successful slot franchises of the past decade? Are you proud of the final result?

Daniel Johansson, Lead Product Owner at ELK Studios: Well of course, the pressure is always on when working with established mega slot IP’s, such as in this case Pirots and Huff N’ Puff. It all feels like a high stakes poker game with adrenalin always pouring, but just as with the poker, one has to find a way to enjoy it to be able to play it properly. I typically try to have fun with it and experiment, and encourage the team to do the same, which in my experience is the best way to achieve something that is truly special and fun to play. And I think the game will testify to that we had a lot of fun while making this one.

I think the game turned out great! Building any slot game is a team effort in every regard and that is especially true for this one. So proud, yes, but more so impressed by the commitment, skill and passion by all those involved. No one named, no one forgot.

CasinoWizard: Which details in Huff N’ Puff CollectR will fans of other Huff N’ Puff slots enjoy?

Daniel Johansson, ELK Studios: We tried to keep the fundamentals of Huff N’ Puff as close to intact as we possibly could. So in any bonus game in Huff N’ Puff CollectR, building the straw/wood/brick frames by landing hardhats is still the main chase. This of course culminates at the end of the bonus games with the wolf doing his Huffin N’ Puffin, which wrecks the houses and reveals coin wins. If one gets lucky, a jackpot coin draw is revealed which in turn awards one of the jackpots, ranging from 10x up to 2500x.

CasinoWizard: What was the reasoning behind the strategy for this Huff N’ Puff CollectR release and the route you chose?

Daniel Johansson, ELK Studios: The most compelling reasons for ELK doing a Huff N’ Puff game to begin with are two fold; on the one hand ELK as a company is aiming for a market share in the US, where of course the Huff N’ Puff brand is enormous. So in theory, this could be a way for us to penetrate the market. On the other hand, the Pirots series and the CollectR mechanic have significant momentum in the European markets, which (also in theory) could give the Huff N’ Puff brand a push on our side of the pool. So all in all (still in theory) it seems like a match made in heaven between the two biggest brands of ELK and Light & Wonder.

This is also reflected in the game mechanic, where the Pirots 4 and Huff N’ Puff content is sort of two parallel games in one, with certain features bridging the gaps. So the game will be instantly familiar for Huff N’ Puff and Pirots 4 players alike.

CasinoWizard: Will fans of the Pirots slots find anything new in Huff N’ Puff CollectR that they haven’t already experienced when playing Pirots 4?

Daniel Johansson, ELK Studios: Yes of course, the Huff N’ Puff content and Pigs to begin with. There are many similarities with Pirots 4 and the core of the CollectR mechanics, but we have also packed the game with some handsome surprises. For example, we have a stateful piggybank in play, that for every collected pig token has a chance to explode and award either the Super Wheel or the Jackpot Wheel. The latter with a guaranteed jackpot coin, or the former with a chance to gain entry to the Bonus, Super Bonus or Mega Hat Mania as well as coin wins.

Clearing the screen also differs from Pirots 4. Doing so, either via one of the two Wolf features or by the Cross-Over feature gives you a spin on the Golden Wheel awarding either instant coin wins or taking you to any of the Bonuses. And speaking of bonuses, this is where players will experience the full scope of Huff N’ Puff CollectR with a bulk of new content even for Pirots 4 veterans.

CasinoWizard: We believe that Huff N’ Puff CollectR might interest a new and different type of player in the powerful Huff N’ Puff brand. Is this part of the strategy for this release?

Daniel Johansson, ELK Studios:  Well yes and no, we don’t design games based on any specific player type or demographic. We simply try to make the best game we possibly can with the resources and circumstances we have. But as I mentioned above, this could in theory open up a swingdoor between the Huff N’ Puff and the Pirots players. So even though there was no explicit strategy, it was carefully considered during the production.

CasinoWizard: Here at CasinoWizard.com, we think that Huff N’ Puff CollectR has the potential of becoming the most popular online slot in 2026. What are your expectations for this release?

Daniel Johansson, ELK Studios: Now that’s some encouraging words, fingers crossed! No but in all seriousness, the adrenalin is still flowing over here in the studio so we don’t dare make predictions of any such magnitude. As I mentioned before I think the game turned out great, so I hope that players will enjoy it. The cliffhanger is, as always, how it will be received by the players.

CasinoWizard: Do you see any specific markets where Huff N’ Puff CollectR will perform well, and what are your expectations for the UK market with this game?

Daniel Johansson, ELK Studios: We hope that the game will perform well in the home turf markets for both the Huff N’ Puff and Pirots brands and of course that the UK market will receive the game well. Expectation is a good day’s worst enemy, but the UK market, being a home turf market for Pirots and Huff N’ Puff, I expect will soon have pigs top of mind.
